Flight Centre Business Travel
is officially a ‘Great Place to Work’
and centre of
‘Excellence in Wellbeing’
Flight Centre Business Travel’s parent company, Flight Centre Travel Group, has been recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for the ninth year running.
Climbing six places from last year, Flight Centre has been awarded an exceptional 12th place by the Great Place to Work® Institute. This is the company’s highest ranking since 2013.
In addition, Flight Centre Business Travel was recognised as a centre of ‘Excellence in Wellbeing’. This was as a result of employee feedback on work environment, mental and physical health, financial security, interpersonal relationships, work-life balance and fulfilment at work.
The Great Place to Work Institute UK is part of the world’s largest consultancy specialising in workplace assessment and optimisation. This means it has unrivalled insight into what makes an organisation’s employees tick and how leaders can improve their business performance by understanding and improving their workplace culture.
“Flight Centre continually makes improvements to the working environment - and it makes such a significant difference to employee productivity, their wellbeing, performance, happiness and engagement. The company doesn’t take anything for granted when it comes to our staff and we really understand that keeping our people happy and motivated makes a huge difference. We are so committed to making sure people bring their best self to work every day as we know the difference it also makes to our customers,” said Sarah Durbin, UK Director of Sales at Flight Centre Business Travel.
This year, over 8,000 companies competed for the opportunity to be named as one of the UK’s great places to work. Flight Centre was recognised in the large organisation category (companies with 500+ employees) and is the only travel management company to make the 2019 list.
“It makes me incredibly proud that each and every year we manage to strengthen the relationship with our own employees. We have a culture like no other; it one that is fun, savvy, promotes trust, offers mutual support and rewards employees,” continued Durbin.
“We hire like-minded people that have similar visions and we actively promote career paths from the very moment people join the company so they can see what their long-term future could be - and what they might need to do to achieve them.”
Flight Centre was rigorously assessed in terms of the company’s values and ethics; communication and involvement; teamwork; recognition; and empowerment and accountability. This process involved an extensive Trust Index© Survey among employees which is designed to measure staff perception of the quality of their workplace relationships with management, with their jobs and with other employees. Flight Centre’s results were outstanding in every category, with survey scores soaring far above the UK average.
Commenting on Flight Business Travel’s rank in the awards, Durbin added: “Am I surprised we came in 12th? Yes, we should have been 1st!”
